Meghan Bachelder, BS, CTRS, Therapeutic Activities Specialist, North Ridge
Meghan has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from CMU and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She is also certified in CPR/AED Professional Rescue and completed her lifeguard and first aid training. She has worked at Dobie since 2007 and chose her field because she enjoys working with people and having fun! “I love working at Dobie Road because of the people and we are always changing!”
Lindsey Hemming, MT-BC, NMT Music Therapist, North Ridge
Lindsey has a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Music Therapy and has been at Dobie since 2011. She is certified in CPR/AED Professional Rescue and has also completed her lifeguard and first aid training. Lindsey can usually be found inspiring our North Ridge residents to sing, clap or tap to the music and loves Therapeutic Activities because it gives her the opportunity to get to know the residents in a variety of different ways, especially through music. “I love Dobie Road because we are always working to serve our residents and community better.”
Bryan Miller, BA, Therapeutic Activities Specialist, North Ridge
Bryan graduated with his Bachelor’s in Therapeutic Recreation from CMU. He has worked in his chosen field for over 15 years in a variety of settings, such as community based recreation with the developmentally disabled and children. Bryan has been a part of Team Dobie since 2011 and enjoys working in Therapeutic Activities. “This facility is the best environment I have ever worked at, providing loving and involving daily activities for those we serve.”
Mary Stokes, RN, Therapeutic Activities Specialist, North Ridge
Mary has her 3 year associates degree from Lake Superior State University and has been at Dobie since 2013. Mary has worked in the field of nursing for over 35 years and loves the interaction with residents and the capability to make a difference in their lives. “Dobie has a great work environment with great employees.”
Meg Shoup, BA, Art Specialist, North Ridge & South Ridge
Meg, our therapeutic activities art specialist, has a solid background in public and non-profit Art Education Programming, great connections with the local art community, and a passion for art and its transformative, life enriching power. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University and primarily works in drawing and painting for her personal art; she also has a wide variety of art media and processes. Her resourcefulness, energy and professionalism serve our residents well!
Angie McConnaughey, Therapeutic Activities Specialist, South Ridge
Associate’s degree in Gerontology and has worked in her field for over 15 years. She’s been with Dobie since 2002 and is certified in CPR/AED Professional Rescue and also completed her lifeguard and first aid training. Angie enjoys Therapeutic Activities because every day is different and she gets to work closely with residents. “Dobie Road is the best!”
Ty Hunter, CNA, Therapeutic Activities Assistant
Ty has worked as a Resident Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant here at Dobie Road since 2012 and joined the Therapeutic Activities team in 2016. She primarily works in our Memory Care neighborhood in the afternoons and evenings and brings her sunny personality to everyone she encounters.
Marisa Martin, CTRS, Therapeutic Activities Specialist
As a Therapeutic Recreation student at Central Michigan University, Marisa successfully completed her internship here at Dobie Road. She has since achieved the professional credential of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and began her employment in April 2018. You can find her working primarily on Memory Lane on the North Ridge Neighborhood. Marisa says: “I love being a part of a team that works to build relationships with our residents through meaningful activities that positively impact their lives and our community.”
Caila Conkiln, MT-BC, Music Therapist
Caila has a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University, and is a board-certified music therapist. She has been a part of the therapeutic activities department at Dobie since July 2018 and is so grateful to be a member of the team. Caila says, “Dobie team members radiate warmth and positive energy to all of our residents and to each other. The sincere, compassionate care and service provided makes me proud to work here.” Caila provides Music Therapy for those who are on our Comfort Care program as well as 1:1 Music Therapy visits and groups throughout our community.
