Our Activities Team


Beverly Schmidt is Dobie Road’s Director of Therapeutic Activities; she has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy.  Beverly has worked in the Therapeutic Activities field for 11 years, with 6 years here as part of Team Dobie and additional experience working in admissions at an inpatient psychiatric hospital for 2 years and with a psychological testing office for 2 years.  Beverly’s primary areas of interest are hands on visual art, gardening, and finding ways for others who are experiencing health challenges to be involved in enjoyable activities.  “I love being a part of the Dobie Road community because of its mission, vision, and values. I love my job because of its focus on the positive side of life, the great team of people I work with, and the daily opportunities to make a difference in peoples’ lives.”

Lindsay Johnson, CTRS, is your therapeutic recreation activities specialist for Dobie’s Rehabilitation Services campus.  Lindsay has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Grand Valley State University and has her certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.  Lindsay also has her Michigan Chauffeur’s license, is certified in CPR/AED Professional Rescue, and has completed her lifeguard training and first aid through the American Red Cross.  Lindsay has worked in the field of recreational therapy since 2011 and has been a part of team Dobie since 2012; her primary area of interest within recreation activities is short term rehabilitation and aquatics and can often be found in the Susan O’Shea therapy pool here at Dobie Road.  “I love being able to see our patients heal while in short term rehabilitation and go back home,” says Lindsay, “I also love working with a wonderful team that provides excellent quality of care to our patients/residents.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
