Employee Spotlight Char Murphy RN

CHAR MURPHY, RN, Chief Nursing Officer

We are pleased to introduce you to Char Murphy, RN.  Char has been a nurse for 37 years and a staple at Dobie Road since 2000.  Char has served residents, patients, and nursing staff in a few different roles at Dobie over the years, including Unit Manager, Unit Manager of all Long-Term care, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Director of Nursing for our Short-term Rehabilitation Services Center, and now as our Chief Nursing Officer.

In addition to her years of experience here at Dobie Road, Char has an extensive acute care and critical care background from her years at Lansing General/McLaren, where she served as the Administrative Supervisor for the entire hospital.  Char is also a previous faculty member of LCC, where she taught nursing and holds certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and Rehabilitation.

“Dobie Road is the best,” said Char.  “I love that our team works collaboratively to improve the lives of our residents in long-term care and help our short-term rehab patients transition home so successfully.  I’m proud to have been able to make an impact on mentoring and growing nurses and leaders within our organization, and it warms my heart to see the compassion and caring that Dobie has and shows for the staff.  Dobie is a large community with many moving parts, and I’m thrilled to be part of keeping us functioning like a top-notch sewing machine – where everything works together, resulting in the well-being for all!”

We are very lucky to have Char as our Chief Nursing Officer, as she lives our Mission, Vision, and Values every single day.
