Chief of Nursing Julie Pudvay retires after 34 years of service

On Friday, July 22, 2022, we said goodbye to our long-time Chief Nursing Officer, Julie Pudvay.  Julie has been with Dobie Road for over 34 years and has mentored, cared for, and improved the lives of hundreds of staff members, residents, and patients.  She will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.

We wish Julie the absolute best in retirement; she so deserves it!

Julie wanted to send a message to all of you; please see that message below.

Thank you for improving so many lives, Julie; you will be missed.

To Dobie Road, Staff, Residents, and Friends,

I want to take a few minutes to say what an honor it has been to serve all of you at Dobie Road for over 34 years. I started at 25 years old after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Science from MSU, but my true calling was Nursing. I started my nursing career as a CNA while in school, obtaining my LPN and then RN. I held many different roles in the facility from staff nurse, charge nurse, Infection Control, Employee Health and Safety, Education Coordinator, Unit Manager, Quality Assurance Coordinator. and Director of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer. I have worked alongside the best employees and management teams who care and are dedicated to improving the lives of our residents. There has not been a day of regret for choosing to serve our residents all these years, as many have become family to me.

Dobie Road has been my second home, and the decision to retire was extremely hard, but I feel it is time for me to focus on myself and my family as time seems to pass faster. I am so thankful that I was lucky to find an organization that allowed me to grow in my career and do what I loved every day. I am so proud of the many CNAs that have become licensed nurses or are working on it; I am excited for the licensed nurses who have become leaders in the facility. I am grateful for all the support staff (EVS, Dining Services, Maintenance, TA, Social Services, Therapy, Restorative, CSR, MOS, Business Office, and Executive Team). Still, most of all, I am just grateful to serve our residents at Dobie Road and help the staff with whatever kind of support they may have needed, work-related or personal.

I wish all the best for Dobie Road and continued success in the future. To the residents, know I hold a special place in my heart for all of you, and to my staff, once again, there are no words to express how much I appreciate your care and commitment to the residents. Remember, on difficult days, look around, catch a resident’s smile, and know you are making a difference in their life. Remember our mission- Dedicated to Improving lives!

Kind regards,

Julie Pudvay
