Tai Chi was originated in China and has been described as “Meditation in motion.” Tai chi is helpful to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, reduce stress, and it could even help with depression. Tai chi also can help with flexibility, patience, and tranquility. It may also be used to help manage pain due to all types of arthritis. Some studies have even shown that it can help reduce the risk of falls. Here at Dobie Road, we are happy to be able to provide such a cathartic class. Our class is low impact, which provides slow and smooth flowing movements. As you move, you breathe deeply and naturally focusing attention on your mind and body. Our certified Tai Chi instructor encourages you to move only as far as your body will allow without pain and discomfort. Our class is tailored to anyone—even those who have never practiced before! The class begins with a gentle warm up. After warming up, she begins each step, moving/teaching as slow or fast as participants require. Our instructors strive to meet participants where they are as she ensures they are comfortable with the movement and breath support. On class is offered on Mondays from 4:00p—5:00p in our Community Room for only $2.00 per class. We hope to see you there!
