Yoga is for EveryBody

Dobie Road is excited to utilize talents and resources from our very own employees. Our yoga instructor that teaches on our campus is one of our very own nurses. Here is what she says about yoga…

Yoga is for EVERY body!

This statement sounds cliché, but yoga IS for everybody! A lot from people say, “Yoga? I can’t even touch my
toes!” The truth is that yoga is not about bending yourself into a pretzel. It’s about creating a union- a union between your breath and movement, a union between your mind and body.

The stress our bodies go through on a daily basis is so great and it NEEDS a buffer. That buffer can be yoga. When stress gets out of control, we start to see disease- anxiety, depression, arthritis, pain, and the list goes on. Yoga is a great way to maintain and improve mobility, decrease injury, strengthen muscles, and improve balance and flexibility.

90% of what holds people back from practicing yoga is mindset. For some, the hardest part is just showing upto your mat—even for avid yoga-doers. The practice itself does not have to be difficult. Every pose can be modified, and no two people will look the same doing any pose. The biggest thing is just knowing what feels right and to not compare
your practice to anyone else’s.

Here are some things I’ve personally noticed in myself from having a yoga practice:

  • My mood has improved so much. I truly know it is how I ward off my depression, which I have an extensive history of.
  • I’m much more in tune with my body and it’s needs.
  • I’m stronger, and even with just a weekly practice I can see improvements in my flexibility, balance, and stamina.
  • I don’t have the back pain I used to deal with on a daily basis as my core is stronger and more flexible.

So Dobie welcomes YOU ALL to come to classes that are held on Tuesday evenings @ 5:45p and 7:45p at this time. Be sure to check out the website, though, as the schedule could change.

Classes are $6/class or 6 classes for $30.00.

Take some time for self-care!
Everyone can make an hour per week work into their schedule, and the benefits are priceless.

Set your goal, make a commitment, and don’t let yourself talk yourself out of it!

Hope to see you on the mat!
