Martha (Marty) Schooley, BA, Social Worker, North Ridge
Marty has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Community Service with a Family Systems Concentration, from Siena Heights University as well as an Associate’s Degree in Human Services from LCC. She has been a social worker and part of Team Dobie since 2007, specializing in memory care of older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and is a trained bereavement facilitator. Marty has a passion for working with older adults in part because of a great relationship with her grandparents. “I realize there is so much to be learned from older adults as they have experienced things younger generations will never know. My own grandmother was in long term care and I knew I could make a difference in this setting.” Marty’s experience with her own mother’s Dementia has also helped her to understand what our resident’s and their families go through on a daily basis and gives her the ability to help them through their journey. “The thing I enjoy the most about working at Dobie Road is the relationships I build with my resident’s and their families. I’m proud to be a part of the social services team here as I know we have an excellent reputation in the community, have a caring and loving staff, and we provide the best care around!”
