Under the general direction of the Administrator, assesses resident nutritional needs, develops and updates nutritional care plans for each resident and completes necessary records in the resident chart.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Upon admission of a resident assesses individual nutritional needs using in part the Minimum
Data Set care elements and guidelines as specified by HCFA, assesses food preference and
develops nutritional care plan.
2.Conducts periodic reassessment of residents as required by Public Health Regulation.
3.Attends interdisciplinary care planning conference on admission of a resident.
4.Documents in the resident chart notations on resident interactions, food preferences and
5.Responsible for approving cycle of menus which provides nutritious and appetizing meals.
6.Participates in Facility committee and multi-disciplinary meetings as needed.
7.Recommends and conducts in-service training on dietetic topics for staff when needed.
8.Recommends assistive devices to enable residents to feed themselves when appropriate.
9.Develops, reviews and implements nutritional care policies and procedure as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics or nutrition.
Current registration as a Dietician by the American Dietetics Association.
Experience in therapeutic diets, nutritional assessments and resident counseling preferably in a long-term care setting.
