OUTPATIENT THERAPY AND WELLNESS ASSOCIATE—Part-time

Reporting to Outpatient Therapy and Wellness Administrator, Strategy, Communications & Business Development Director, and Director of Human Resources; responsible for receptionist duties for the outpatient therapy clinic and wellness program involvement; provides for senior and staff wellness, and improves access to healthcare services in the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  2. Establishes positive working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  3. Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about, employees, participants, clients or families.
  4. Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.
  5. Receptionist work in outpatient therapy, including but not limited to
    1. Welcoming patients to the outpatient clinic.
    2. Providing paperwork needed for patient to complete and ensure that it’s completed.
    3. Filing paperwork in the clinical charts.
    4. Meet with potential patients and/or their families and provide education regarding outpatient therapy programs.
    5. Asking potential patients and/or families for insurance information.
    6. Working with the Ingham County Medical Care Facility Business office on verifying insurance of potential patients.
    7. Scheduling evaluations and follow up appointments
    8. Being comfortable contacting physician offices for signatures or clarification of orders.
    9. Assist the Outpatient Therapy in keeping track of referrals and following up with those referrals to ensure patient start of outpatient therapy services is timely.
    10. Help to grow the Outpatient Therapy program at Ingham County Medical Care Facility
    11. Potentially assisting in Lifeguard duties during a pool therapy session.
  6. Assist the facility to ensure that community members, employees, and residents/patients’ needs are met. (This may include lifeguarding during times the warm water therapy pool is utilized).
  7. Specific Wellness Program responsibilities:
  8. Must be passionate about wellness and willing to lead/assist with all wellness related program activities.
  9. Works with our partners, and potential partners, to grow Senior Wellness throughout Mid-Michigan.
  10. Instruct community aquatic classes
    1. Required to have lifeguard and first aid certification within a month of accepting the position (certification and time will be paid for by Ingham County Medical Care Facility)
    2. Must complete certification through the Arthritis Foundation for land/aquatic exercise programs
    3. Instruct class sizes that may range from 4-15, male and female.
    4. Must be available to teach during the work day
  11. Provide information and education to community members and employees on all wellness programs that are available.
  12. Performs miscellaneous duties as required.

EDUCATION

High school degree (Bachelors preferred, but not required) in a health, human services, or fitness related field with an interest in management or administration, or any combination of experience, education, or training which would provide the knowledge required by this position (knowledgeable regarding the rehabilitation and wellness services required by the patients who are served) and 1-2 years of work experience preferred
